Abstract
After pollination, pollen tube growth in the cross of L. longiflorum ¢¥Nellie White¢¥ (NW) ¡¿ L. callosum (LC) was observed on the stigma, but not observed in the cross of L. callosum (LC) ¡¿ L. longiflorum ¢¥Nellie White¢¥ (NW). The ovary enlargement was not observed in the both cross treatments (NW ¡¿ LC and LC ¡¿ NW) after ¢¥pollination with 1/2 cut styles, but was observed only in the cross of NW ¡¿ LC when pollinated with styles cut at 1-2 mm above ovaries. Approximately 12% of immature embryo was grown after the ovary enlargement. Pollination after cutting the styles at 1-2 mm above the ovaries, 0, 2 and 4 days after flowering in the cross of LC ¡¿ NW did not induce the ovary enlargement, whereas 0.43, 10.76 and 9.52% of immature embryos were grown from enlarged ovaries in the cross of pollination of NW ¡¿ LC, 0, 2 and 4 days after flowering, respectively. Ovaries in the cross of LC ¡¿ NW was rapidly aborted 1 week after the pollination, whereas those in the cross of NW ¡¿ LC showed maximum size 3-4 weeks after the pollination, and 14.7% and 11.60 of immature embryos were grown in vitro, and then the abortion occurred 5 weeks after the pollination.
